Jorge Mejias

University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Dr. Mejias joined the University of Amsterdam as assistant professor in 2017, where he currently leads the Computational Neuroscience Lab. His team’s research aims to understand the biophysical mechanisms and neural dynamics underlying cognitive functions such as working memory and decision making. Researchers in his lab use a combination of data analysis, multiscale biophysical modeling, mean-field approaches and machine learning to tackle these challenges. Dr. Mejias’ particular focus on full-brain models have led to the development of a novel type of computational brain models which are strongly constrained by neuroanatomical data and display both neurobiologically plausible neural dynamics and basic cognitive functionalities.
