Conference

Where and when will the conference be held?

The 11th Neurizons will be from 21st to 24th May 2024 at the MPI for Multidisciplinary Sciences – Faßberg-Campus in Göttingen, Germany (Am Faßberg 11, 37077 Göttingen). 

When does the registration open?

The registration opens on 20 January 2024. 

What is the deadline for registration?

The deadline for abstract submission is the 15th March 2024. Registrations are open until beginning of the conference.

How much is the registration fee?

The registration fee for full conference package is 30€. This includes lunch, coffee breaks, access to social events, workshops and abstract submission.

If you only attend lectures, it is free.

Please note that it is only possible to pay via direct bank transfer or by cash (in Euros) directly at the conference. Credit cards and PayPal are not accepted.

When will I receive the registration confirmation and acceptance email?

As soon as you register you will get an automatically generated email as confirmation for your registration. In this email we will provide you with our bank account details for registration fee payment.  

I changed my mind about participating in the conference. Can I withdraw and get a full refund?

You can withdraw your registration by writing an email to the neurizons@mpinat.mpg.de. However, we cannot give you a refund of the registration fee. 

Will there be a conference booklet?

Yes, there will be an online conference booklet including the program, speaker information, sponsor details and abstracts of the talks. This will be available on the website few weeks prior to the conference. 

Will I get a certificate of participation in the conference? When will I receive it?

Yes. You will receive a certificate of attendance by email after the conference. You will receive it after you fill our feedback form. 

What are the social events at the conference?

We have a Pub evening on 21st May 2024 at 18:00h where we will visit a pub in Göttingen (to be determined) for an informal networking session. It is optional and self-paid.

We have a city tour on 22nd May 2024 with two themes: Historical town of Göttingen (Highlights der Göttingen Altstadt) and History of Science in Göttingen (Göttinger Wissenschaftsgeschichte). Participants can choose one of the two tours. Slots will be allotted on first-come-first-serve basis (limited spots available). This is included in the registration fee.

We have the conference dinner on 23rd May 2024 at 18:30h at the conference venue itself. This is included in the registration fee. 

Will lunch be provided at the conference?

Lunch (one meal and one drink) during lunch break and snacks during the coffee breaks for all days of the conference will be provided and is included in the registration fee. We will also provide a vegan/vegetarian meal option.

Dinner will be provided on 24th May which is included in the registration fee

Workshops and Young Investigator Award

What are the workshops in the conference?

There are two workshops in the conference: ‘What to do with a PhD’ by Dr.Gaby Schilling and ‘Conveying animal research to the public’ by Dr.Roman Stilling.

How can one participate in the workshop?

You can choose one workshop to participate in during registration. There are limited spots available in both workshops hence slots will be assigned on first-come-first-serve basis. If you do not get a spot, your name will be added to the waiting list and we will inform you if you get a spot.

Note: Only participants with full conference package can attend the workshop.

How are the participants for Young Investigator Contest selected?

The abstracts from all the participants who chose to be considered for Young Investigator Contest during registration will be reviewed anonymously by the organisers and the top three abstracts will be selected to present as a talk in the Young Investigator Contest.

What should I do if I are selected for Young Investigator Contest ?

The selected participants will have to present a 20 min talk (+ 5 min for questions) on Thursday, 23rd May 2024. Participants selected for Young Investigator Contest will not have a poster in the poster session.

More details will be sent to you personally via email.

How are the participants for Power Pitch selected?

If you chose your abstract to be considered for Young Investigator Contest but did not get selected, then top ten abstracts from those are selected (apart from those selected for Young Investigator Contest) to present as a short talk in Power pitches on 22nd and 23rd May. You can also present a poster in the poster session.

Abstract Submission and Posters

What is the deadline for abstract submission?

15th March 2024

What poster size recommended?

The recommended size is A0 in portrait.

Can one student /researcher submit more than one abstract /poster?

Yes

Can I make changes to the abstract after submission?

No. You can only submit an abstract once.

Can there be more than one presenter?

Yes.

I changed my mind about participating in the poster session, can I withdraw?

Yes, withdrawal of poster presentation is possible, however, the registration fee (which includes abstract submission fee) cannot be refunded. 

I registered as a participant without submitting an abstract.  I changed my mind and would like to submit an abstract. Is this change possible?

Yes. Follow the link you receive on registration to submit the abstract. The link is valid till deadline of abstract submission.

Will I get a certificate of participation in the poster session If yes, when will I get it?

Yes, you will receive a certificate of attendance after the conference.

Can I collect credits for presenting a poster at the conference?

Yes, you can collect credits for attendance and for presenting a poster. Please follow the instructions of the respective university office for acquisition of credits.

Can I submit an abstract that was also presented at another conference?

Yes
